How DLA Piper Leveraged LTC4 Core Competencies and Learning Plans to Achieve Widespread Lawyer Technology Competency

DLA Piper’s vision is to be the leading global business law firm. One of the key elements to the firm’s achieving this goal is to equip the firm’s lawyers with the best technology, and ensure they know how to use it for optimal benefit. Research has shown that the more time attorneys spend using technology, the more their efficiency, quality of work, and productivity increases. In some cases, today’s clients demand proof of technical competency from their firms, so DLA Piper wanted to make sure it could objectively prove its lawyers’ aptitude.

LTC4 is pleased to announce that LTC4 vendor members who offer assessments aligned with an LTC4 core competency learning plan, may now submit those assessments to the Certification Pod for approval. LTC4 approval means only that the Certification Pod has reviewed the content of a vendor’s assessment to ensure that they are aligned to the LTC4 competencies. LTC4 does not approve or recommend any individual vendor member generally.

LTC4 Chairperson Bonnie Beuth says, “Our Certification Pod has done a great job defining the new assessment approval process. We are looking forward to helping our vendor members help firms obtain certification by offering approved assessments." Several vendor members have already expressed interest in obtaining approval of their assessments. In addition to Capensys, who volunteered to help pilot this program, we have begun working with Savvy, Tikit and TutorPro, all of whom have been aligning their training and assessments to the core competencies.

For more information or to request certification, interested vendors should contact
